Adventure At Kelly Hill Conservation Park, you’ll find an amazing underground world of sinkholes and caverns thought to extend some nine kilometres. Some of the most spectacular caves can be seen on the daily show cave tour. If you’re after an adrenaline rush, try adventure caving and experience the thrill of crawling your way through Kelly Hill’s smaller caves. Walking trails The West End of the Island has a diverse range of hiking and walking trails that are well worth the effort, including the Weirs Cove hike, Rocky River hike and Sandy Creek hike. The Platypus Waterhole walk departs from the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre and is a return trip. The Rocky River hike also leaves from the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre and follows the Rocky River through forests, woodland, Mallee and riverbank vegetation communities to the Snake Lagoon day visitor area and campground. Departing from the lightstation in Flinders Chase National Park, the Cape du Couedic hike provides spectacular cliff top views as it meanders between the lightstation and Admirals Arch car park. For serious explorers, a range of treks can be undertaken along some challenging sections of the coast around Flinders Chase National Park and Ravine des Casoars Wilderness Protection Area. Trekker information packs are available at the Natural Resources Centre in Kingscote and the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre. The walking trails will provide you with the opportunity to observe wildlife where it belongs, witness the powerful forces of nature, immerse yourself in Kangaroo Island’s adventurous past and connect with the beauty of this unspoilt environment.
